Write the user job: 'draft a reply', 'extract fields', 'flag an anomaly'. If a rules engine does it, use that.
Then decide retrieval vs. fine-tuning vs. a plain API call. Most business apps need retrieval and permissions more than they need a custom model.
Product work people skip
Citations, 'I don't know', human approve buttons, and logs. Those are why users trust the feature.
